So, you've made your New Year resolution and your sticking to it, right? Monitoring your carbs, calories, sugar intake, and etc. Good for you, Mom and Dad. What about your child? Are you counting his/her calories and carbs as well? Children need exercise just as much as you do. We think because they're young that they are as healthy as can be, wrong. Ok, well not necessarily all the way wrong, but kids are still developing and still need proper nourishment and exercise. The way the world is now kids just want to sit and video game all day. When I was younger we couldn't wait to get outside. We still had video games like Nintendo 64 and Sega genesis, but the highlight of my day was mobbing around the neighborhood on my 10 speed, that I got for Christmas. My granny bought all 10 of us one. We use to mob around our neighborhood like a bike gang. If we wasn't on our bikes, we were skating, playing double dutch, hockey or hide n seek with the other neighborhood kids.We were exploring the woods in the backyard, and running from onsters we made up in or head. Oh, how I miss those days. Times sure have changed, haven't they? We live in a period where Instagram, video gaming, Facebook and etc is the new play time. Technically, not really safe to let kids roam the woods like back in the day. That's why you should do it even more as a family!

Look, we gotta get back to how things used to be. Due to kids wanting to sit in front of a cell phone or video gaming, obesity is at an all time high in children. Parents we go to do better with our children. Did you know that the cell phone marketing to teens is banned in France, due to health related problems that may arise? Studies show that kids who exercise in their youth will carry that into adulthood. When I switched to a vegan lifestyle, I didn't leave my family out. I'm talking about those in my household. I still told others as well. But, as for as my household we all made the switch together. I would feel like a fucked up person to leave my kids out. So sometimes I will walk by myself for a peace of mind, and times we walk as a whole family. We do yoga and breathing exercises together. I also make it a habit to explain why, not just because I'm the adult. Explaining is key. Plus after a good workout the children are exhausted, even my teen son. Everyone is sleepy so after a good snack and shower my whole house is quiet. Exercising does create a better sleep patter in kids. I can vouch for that, lol. I'm tired after a good walk or workout right along with them, I also see it as good bonding time. The last workout we did had us all laughing out loud as we were encouraging each other through our 6 inches, and to not give up. According to kidshealth.org

kids who are active tend to be have stronger muscle and bones, less likely to become overweight, develop better sleep patterns, decrease risk of type 2 diabetes and etc. My daughter will come and ask me if she can use my yoga mat to do yoga, and she is only 5 years old. Our kids are absorbing everything we do and tell them, It is up to us to guide them until they become aware and lead the way on their own path in life, Being healthy including mind, body, and soul is key. So when you work out, grab your kids. When you go and make you a perfectly healthy meal, make your kids one too! They deserve a healthier lifestyle as well. There are still sick children all around. Mos of it is due to food consumption, especially when it comes to sugar. I see parents constantly giving in to crying children who want nothing but chips and soda for dinner. This will cost you in the long run parents. Let's put an end to it now.Put your foot down. Show some tough love or whatever you want to call it. Don't leave the children out! They need this just like you. Don't forget about the kids!
